ERDC rolls out park-and-ride at Falkirk Wheel
ERDC, the Edinburgh-based civil engineering and construction firm, has formally opened the £2.8 million park-and-ride facility at the Falkirk Wheel, the world’s first rotating boat lift.
The contract to build the 300-space facility also included the creation of a 200-space visitor car park north of the Forth and Clyde Canal, along with a new roundabout and access road. David Brown, director of business development at ERDC, said the firm was "delighted" to have worked on such a high-profile project.
"The new facilities are already helping to minimise traffic congestion and allowing easier access routes both to the extraordinary Falkirk Wheel and to the town itself."
ERDC is also the exclusive UK supplier and installer of Fieldturf synthetic grass and has claimed it could win almost 50m worth of new business over the next five years, thanks to a rise in demand for the product.
Over the past four years, the company’s turnover has climbed from 15m to almost 20m, and Uefa, the governing body for European football, has predicted that most of the UK’s top clubs will begin using artificial turf for their first-team matches within a few years.
