Hogwarts order spells success for Lochaven

A SCOTTISH textile maker has been asked to supply the final two Harry Potter films with knitwear.

Ayrshire-based Lochaven International is to provide pullovers and cardigans as part of Hogwarts school uniforms for Warner Brothers' hit series based on JK Rowling's novels. The final two films are based on the last book Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows and are currently in production.

Lochaven recently won orders from four prestigious Japanese retailers and from the US and Russia. Its global reach has been helped by two loans, totalling 50,000, from the West of Scotland Loan Fund.

Keith Murray, managing director of Lochaven International, said: "Cashflow is vital to help companies such as ours compete both domestically and internationally and help structure growth."

WSLF loans can be used towards working capital, or to purchase equipment or premises.

Last week WSLF received 6 million from the European Regional Development Fund towards a 15m pot which will help some 600 new and growing businesses over the next six years.
