Caitlin McClatchey aiming for Rio Games

CAITLIN McClatchey has set her sights on Olympic glory in Rio de Janeiro after previously suggesting that last year’s London Games would be her last.

Now 27, McClatchey has competed in three Olympics, but believes she has unfinished business with the event. “I’m aiming for my fourth Olympics and am determined to try and get the one international medal I haven’t got yet,” she said.

The double gold medal winner at the Commonwealth Games in 2006 has relocated to Scotland in order to enhance her training regime, and added: “I have joined the University of Edinburgh swim team which is great as they have some talented swimmers coming through.”

With the Glasgow Commonwealth Games also on the horizon, McClatchey expressed her desire to add to her medal haul in her homeland. “It’s going to be very exciting training in
Scotland over the next two years with a Commonwealth Games in Glasgow approaching,” she said. “I have been fortunate to compete at a home Olympics and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to potentially compete at a home Commonwealth Games.”
