Wiseman unveils new milk price

Following weeks of turbulence in the milk market Robert Wiseman Müller Dairy yesterday announced that, from 15 October, their dairy farmer suppliers will receive 29p per litre for their milk.

The increase will be offered to all farmers who supply the company with the exception of those aligned with major customers like Tesco, Sainsbury and the Co-operative Group, who have their own milk pricing arrangements.

The company also reaffirmed plans to consider new ways of valuing farm-gate milk.

The move follows reports of tousy meetings with Wiseman suppliers threatening to move to other buyers following moves by the company to drop the price in August, a decision rescinded following protests.
