Investor sees the wood for the trees
A PRIVATE investor has bought the Badlieu and Leithope forests in the Borders from a pension fund for more than £10 million.
Bidwells, which acted for the fund, said it had received bids worth a total of £63m for the two Sitka spruce plantations, which together carried an asking price of £7.1m.
Raymond Henderson, a partner at Bidwells, said: “This deal proves the continued attraction of productive forestry as an investment that benefits from significant tax incentives.
“The market has been bolstered in recent years by strong timber prices.”
