Harbro snaps up Border Farm Supplies
Border Farm Supplies, with depots in Earlston and Duns, has been taken over by Scotland’s largest independent animal feed suppliers, Harbro.
The deal sees Ian Watson, who along with two fellow directors founded Border Farm Supplies in 1992, continue in the business under the new owners. All existing staff will also transfer to the Harbro Group.
Graham Baxter, managing director of Harbro, said he was delighted with the deal as it added an important piece in the jigsaw of his company’s coverage in Scotland.
“This a very exciting move for Harbro,” he said. “Our mill at Birkhill, south Lanarkshire is in close proximity to the Borders and is ideally located to serve the area.”
In addition to Birkhill, the Harbro Group has manufacturing plant at its main base in Turriff and in Inverness, with capacity to produce more than a quarter of a million tonnes of animal feed annually.
It also has 12 country stores across the country, with its 12th store opened this year in Perth’s Inveralmond Trade Park.
