Duncan Millar wins Ed Rainy Brown award
PERTHSHIRE farmer Ian Duncan Millar was this week awarded the Ed Rainy Brown Memorial Award for his services to the Scottish farming industry.
As well as farming a 320-acre unit near Aberfeldy, Duncan Millar is currently Scottish director of the National Fallen Stock Company, a director of Moredun Research Institute, chairman of Highland Glen Lamb marketing group and a past chair of the Scottish Agricultural Arbiters and Valuers Association. More recently, he chaired a strategy group looking at developing the role that SAC’s farm at Kirkton, Crianlarich, could play in improving hill farming in Scotland.
He was an influential driving force behind the successful introduction of assurance schemes to the Scottish livestock sector. His services to agriculture were recognised in January 2010 when he received an MBE in the Queen’s honours and he accepted the latest award from Katy Rainy Brown
