CHEF and entrepreneur Dave Gannon has combined two of Britain’s best loved foods to launch a range of curry-flavoured flatbread pizzas after securing a deal with the Scotmid supermarket chain.
The idea for the products came when Gannon, who owned the only Indian restaurant in the French ski resort of Chamonix, experimented in the kitchen one day making food for his staff.
He created a curry pizza using naan bread instead of traditional dough for the base and popular curry sauces as the topping. The “currizza” was a hit with workers and the idea for Curry Dave’s Indian Flatbread Pizza was born.
Gannon said he has also had interest from larger supermarket chains with further listings UK-wide expected in early 2014.
He added: “We’re confident that people are going to love them and have big plans for the future of Curry Dave.”
Colin McLean, chief operating officer for Scotmid Co-operative, said: “Scotmid is committed to supporting local Scottish suppliers.”
