THE UK is a nation of “prang and runners”, according to a study by Confused.com, which has revealed car park scrapes cost motorists £1.3bn a year.
One in five drivers confessed to not reporting a prang, with lawyers among the worst offenders, with one in four not leaving details.
Two out of three drivers blamed the size of parking spaces for their car park scrapes.
Confused.com has launched a campaign to encourage car parking etiquette
“To encourage some honesty and car park etiquette, we are offering visitors an ‘If You Bump me Don’t Run, Be Nice and Leave Your Number’ sticker for your car window, to encourage others to leave their details if they bump your vehicle,” said Gareth Kloet, head of car insurance at Confused.com.
