Farming law expert Alasdair Fox calls it a day after 40 years

One of Scotland's leading agricultural and rural law specialists, Alasdair Fox of Anderson Strathern, has retired.

A partner in the business, Fox has been involved in legal work for farming and rural businesses for the past 40 years since joining the then firm of J and F Anderson in 1970.

Over that period, he has successfully grappled with several major tranches of new legislation with agricultural tenure a speciality.

The arrival of the Agricultural Holdings Act, 2003 provided major changes to legislation and resulted in Fox advising clients and professionals on the consequences of the new laws.

Although he officially stepped down earlier this week, he will continue to be associated with the firm on a consultancy basis.

Robert Carr, chairman of Anderson Strathern, said: "Alasdair has delivered an outstanding service to our clients over the years and has been involved in some very high-profile and high-value transactions covering the full spectrum of rural property matters. We wish him all the very best in his retirement."

Partners Jim Drysdale, Fiona Gibb, John Mitchell and John Hendry will now lead the 14-strong Anderson Strathern team of expert lawyers.
