LANARK – Lawrie & Symington firm sold 16 Dairy Cattle, 70 Prime Cattle, 86 Cast Cows & Older Cattle, 12 Calves and 503 Prime Sheep & Cast Sheep at their weekly Sale. Dairy: Brown Swiss Cross Heifer in Milk sold to a top price 1840 from Mr W B Erskine, Woodcockdale. Hfrs in Milk – Findattie (Hol) 1,640, Elsrickle Mains (Hol) 1,500. Cows in Milk – South Lanridge (Hol) 1,570, Ladehead (Hol) 1,510 & 1,390, Burnfoot (Hol) 1,260. Prime Sheep: New Season Lambs (219) averaged 169p and sold to 200p per kg and 92 gross. Hoggets (146) averaged 118p per kg and sold to 134p per kg and 69.80 gross. SQQ Hoggets up to 45.5gk (127) averaged 122p. Prime Cattle: Prime Bullocks (51) averaged 152p to 190p per kg and 1,130. Prime Heifers (19) averaged 171.7p to 185p per kg and 971. Cast Cows: Beef Cows (31) averaged 126p per kg and sold to 142p per kg, Midlock Farm, Crawford. Dairy Cows (30) averaged 98p per kg and sold to 117p per kg twice, Harelaw Farm, Lanark & Millburn Farm, Larkhall. Bullocks (5) averaged 110p per kg and sold to 121p per kg twice, Bents Farm, West Calder. Bull (2) averaged 96p per kg and sold to 975, Dykehead Farm, Lesmahagow. STIRLING – Caledonian Marts had forward 2,256 sheep comprising 451 new season lambs, 1,002 prime hoggets and 803 cast ewes and tups. Prime lambs averaged 170.7p (-5.1p on the week) selling to 200.0p for a pen of 45kg continental lambs from J&R Rankin, Bedenheath, Cumbernauld. Prime hoggets averaged 111.8p (-19.8p on the week) selling to 151.1p for a pen of 45kg beltex hoggets from JB Guthrie, Cuiltburn, Muthill. Leading prices per head and per kg. Lambs: Cont – 90 Badenheath, 200p Badenheath; Suff – 90 Graystale & High Gameshill, 194.8p Pett; Tex – 88 Greenhills, 192.3p Badenheath. Hoggets: Bel – 68 Cuiltburn, 151.1p Cuiltburn; Tex – 64 Craigton, 132.2p Graystale; Suff – 62.50 Gaisland, 131.8p Greenroad. Ewes sold to 60 for suffolks from J Christie, West Carse.
