Rose Street flies the flags

FLAGS will be flying in Rose Street this weekend as the revamped thoroughfare comes into bloom.

In a bid to create a carnival atmosphere as Edinburgh Rugby host French side Toulouse in the Heineken Cup quarter-final at Murrayfield on Saturday, the street will be draped in Saltire bunting.

Live music performances will also be taking place.

Andy Neal, chief executive of Essential Edinburgh, said: “Our vision is for Rose Street to become a hub of activity this weekend ahead of the Heineken Cup quarter-final rugby match.

“The street will be decorated in new bunting to provide a brighter face to visiting supporters and locals alike, and live music will be performed along the street to add atmosphere.

“The plans will see the larger part of £1 million invested.”
