Energy firm eyes green power
SCOTTISH and Southern Energy has completed a review of its opportunities in renewable energy following its acquisition of Airtricity Holdings last month.
The company says there are tough targets for the UK to increase the amount of renewable energy by between 1.3 per cent to 15 per cent in the future. It added it was now well placed to help achieve the targets.
The firm says it will be focusing on enhancing and creating value for shareholders from its energy and infrastructure-related business in the UK and Ireland.
Ian Marchant, chief executive of SSE, said: "The range of investment opportunities in renewables we now have will contribute significantly to the growth of SSE over the next decade.
"Our aim to grow our renewable energy capacity significantly by 2013 is realistic and achievable."
