Tie-up will mean firms can move on to bigger projects

Two Aberdeen-based oilfield service companies are joining forces in an attempt to secure larger and more complex client projects.

Energetics company SPEX Services and engineering consultancy Cognity will integrate their specialist offerings to deliver projects from concept to completion. Together they will employ 74 staff with an expected turnover in excess of £10 million this year.

Cognity managing director Rae Younger joins the SPEX board and will run the engineering division of the new firm.

He said: “Both companies were looking at ways to expand and we recognised that the combined force would allow us to offer services which are highly complementary.

“The move will help Cognity to expand its capabilities.”
