National Grid to buy US gas company
ELECTRICITY network operator National Grid has agreed to buy the Rhode Island gas distribution business from Southern Union Company for $498m cash plus the assumption of $77m of debt.
Southern's Rhode Island operations serve 245,000 customers, with the network overlapping National Grid's existing electricity distribution company in Rhode Island.
