Stephen Curran bolsters Lomond’s plan for growth

STEPHEN Curran, the former head of Candover Investments, has joined the senior ranks of Lomond Capital as the lettings business prepares for further expansion.

Curran will take a non-executive seat on the board and is making an undisclosed investment in the Edinburgh-based company. He is joined by former Direct Line director Bryan Robertson, who has been named a partner, and newly-appointed assistant acquisitions director Anna Morgan.

The additions come as the property management group announces the completion of three acquisitions, furthering its goal of becoming a major consolidator in the lettings industry.

Lomond has extended its lead in Edinburgh with the purchase of Woodstar Property Management, taking its total number of properties in the capital to 4,000.

In Aberdeen, the addition of Bon Accord Leasing has taken overall numbers of properties in the city to more than 1,000.

Lomond is also seeking to widen its services to property owners by acquiring Alastair Macdonald, Midlothian’s largest insurance broker. The deal for the Loanhead-based operation is Lomond’s first insurance acquisition.

Chief executive Stuart Pender said there will be further expansion into England. “We have our sights set on extending our reach further south of the border,” he said.

“We already have a presence in Manchester and are set to enhance that with more acquisitions in Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds during the first half of 2013.”
