China growth could slow
ChiNA has given a further hint that its booming economy is slowing as a top official warned yesterday that growth could drop below 7 per cent for the first time since the financial crisis of 2009.
Zheng Xinli, deputy head of Beijing think-tank China Centre for International Economic Exchanges, said second-quarter growth would be subdued if there are no significant improvements June’s economic data.
Despite the slowdown, China still looks set to leave Europe’s struggling economies standing, and yesterday Danish brewer Carlsberg unveiled plans for a giant brewery in China to tap growth in what it now the world’s largest beer market.
