eBay notches up 200m users
ONLINE auction giant eBay has signed up its 200 millionth user, which would make it the fifth-largest country in the world if its members could form one nation.
Speaking to thousands of the company's most loyal buyers and sellers at its annual user conference, chief executive Meg Whitman said eBay had achieved the milestone earlier this week.
Only China, India, the United States and Indonesia are larger in terms of population, she pointed out.
As of March 31, the company had reported it had 192.9 million registered users worldwide, and 75.4 million "active" users in the quarter. EBay's biggest markets are the US, Germany, Britain and South Korea.
