Eagle spreads wings with QED
AN independent courier company has announced a major expansion after taking over one of its oldest rivals in Edinburgh.
Eagle Couriers has bought out rival firm QED Couriers in a deal that is expected to bring an extra 500,000 of business a year.
The company, which employs more than 100 people in Edinburgh and Glasgow, signed the landmark deal this week, ending a 25-year rivalry.
Under the deal, Eagle, which has grown significantly since a successful management buyout by three directors in 2005, will immediately incorporate QED's 15-strong fleet of delivery vans into its Edinburgh depot.
Director Fiona Deas said: "We're delighted to have brought QED into our business and it is a move that we believe will strengthen our operations and raise our profile even higher."
