DPM in £850,000 deal to supply Aquacubes to Danes

PORTABLE water purification units made by a Falkirk firm, are to be shipped to Denmark under a 1 million (£850,000) deal unveiled today.

Danish Camp Supplies, which gives logistical support to the armed forces and construction firms, has ordered four of the largest Aquacube units made by DPM Water Technologies.

The export order will lead to a "rapid expansion" for the Scottish company.

DPM's latest contract win builds on the success of its previous work, which has included supplying a small unit to Afghanistan, where it was used by a group of Lithuanians involved in reconstruction work.

The firm is also working on an order for the Dominican Republic, where a unit will be used to turn sea water into fresh water.

Hugh O'Donnell, who founded DPM, said: "It has been a challenge breaking into the global market and over the first three years, development costs were considerable."

Financial backers have included Glasgow-based venture capital firm Barwell and Scottish Enterprise's Scottish Co-investment Fund.
