United Utilities Scotland (UUS) announced today that it has secured a water supply contract for all 281 Tesco stores and distribution centres in Scotland.
The firm, whose clients have included SSE and the Scotmid chain of supermarkets, said the deal will save Tesco more than 20 per cent from its water bills, equivalent to more than £800,000 per year.
UUS sales director Tony McHardy said: “Water is an important part of Tesco’s in-store operations.”
McHardy added that the retailer is “the largest commercial customer in Scotland and we think this award sends a strong message to the market about the quality of service we can provide”.
The utility company also said it is the second-largest supplier of water and waste-water services in Scotland, and the largest in England.
