BROADCASTING group STV has been awarded licences to deliver local television services for three more locations.

The channels, covering Aberdeen, Ayr and Dundee, will provide local news and current affairs content and will run in partnership with college and university media students.

It means STV now has five local TV licences in Scotland and follows on from the existing services covering Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Bobby Hain, the group’s director of channels, said: “STV is committed to delivering local content for viewers in Scotland and the award today of three additional TV licences will serve to complement our existing STV family of broadcast, online and mobile services.”

STV Glasgow launched in June 2014 and the Edinburgh channel went on air in January this year. Shares dipped 3.25p to 375.25p.
