A TECHNOLOGY firm that was rescued from administration in 2009 has been placed into liquidation, it emerged yesterday.
Brian Milne, a partner at accountancy firm French Duncan, has been appointed as provisional liquidator of Picsel International, which is registered in Malta. Picsel – which once had 90 staff in Glasgow – had been bought out of administration in 2009 by its management team.
Milne and his colleague, Linda Barr, were also named on 4 September as joint administrators of Paisley-based SmartOffice Technologies, Picsel’s subsidiary.
Mobile software firm SmartOffice – which lists LG, Samsung and Norton-owner Symantec among its customers – has 31 staff in the UK and six in Asia, where the administrators said the brand is popular.
Milne plans to sell Smart-Office and Picsel as a “package” because Picsel owns SmartOffice’s patents.
He expects to receive international interest for the sale.
