Mourinho series helps SSM narrow half-year losses

SPORTS Stars Media (SSM), the Aim-quoted cartoon and computer game developer, yesterday narrowed its half-year losses following the release of an animated television series featuring Chelsea football club manager José Mourinho.

The series – Mourinho and the Special Ones – debuted on Portuguese television in May and the company has since signed up two retail chains to sell trading cards associated with the programme.

SSM now has a hit list of about 15 countries in which it wants to sell the series, including the UK.

Ruben Dias, chief executive at SSM, said: “In the past 18 months, the group was able to develop a solid and comprehensive Mourinho and the Special Ones product line that was successfully launched in the first territory.

“We now have an immense revenue opportunity for worldwide expansion.”

The firm said it is also preparing to launch next month a mobile phone app, The Game By Ronaldo.Losses narrowed to €228,491 (£192,724) from €234,088.
