Itison, the Glasgow-based deals and events website, has opened its first office south of the Border.
The firm, launched in 2010, said the move into Newcastle was a “natural first step” as it targets turnover in excess of £25 million and seeks to create 20 jobs.
Founder and chief executive Oli Norman said: “Similar to Glasgow, the city has undergone a major transformation into a thriving and exciting place to live with an abundance of amazing venues and events, and of course the people are fantastic.
“Whilst we continue to grow in our Scottish markets, the wider Newcastle conurbation of 1.6 million gives us huge opportunity for growth and is the starting point for greater expansion across the UK to those markets we feel lack any quality at the higher end of the deal and event marketplace.”
Last week a wedding planner from Glasgow had lunch with Hollywood star George Clooney in Edinburgh after winning a competition organised by Itison to raise funds for Social Bite, the sandwich shop that supports homeless people, and the humanitarian charity Not On Our Watch, co-founded by Clooney.
