Brightsolid, the Dundee-based data centre operator, is poised for a boost in business after achieving “preferred partner” certification from IT giant Dell.

According to Dell UK channel director Sarah Shields, companies that meet its preferred status can grow “significantly faster than those partners who are not certified – in some cases, by more than 30 per cent”.

To attain the preferred partner ranking, companies offering Dell hardware and services have to complete mandatory training, in exchange for which they receive higher levels of support and benefits.

“We are excited to welcome Brightsolid as a preferred partner,” Shields said. “Its investment in training will pay dividends for our customers and help our businesses grow and thrive.”

The accolade comes after Brightsolid joined forces in June with DataVita – operator of the £200 million Fortis data centre at Chapelhall in North Lanarkshire – in a bid to improve the country’s digital infrastructure. The two firms said the partnership would help close a “digital divide” between the Central Belt and north of Scotland, offering faster communication and opening up access to cloud computing for more companies.

Brightsolid chief executive Richard Higgs added: “We like Dell’s model because there’s no technology lock-in, closed systems or unforeseen cost. Its approach to business complements our flexible, personal approach.

“Over the last couple of years we have worked really hard to refine our core product and service offerings into clear, bite-sized problem solvers, of which Dell technology is a key component. Our customers really like this approach because they can choose, with the help of our design team, what solution is right for their business.”
