Surveyor Malcolm Hollis builds up practice with capital hiring

Malcolm Hollis, the independent commercial building surveying firm, has expanded its team with the appointment of Ewan Wyllie at its Edinburgh office. He re-joins the firm from Shepherd Chartered Surveyors in Glasgow where he was an associate. Commenting on the appointment, Ben Mack, partner at Malcolm Hollis in Edinburgh, said: “We are delighted Ewan has chosen to return to Malcolm Hollis after three years away. He has great knowledge and expertise in all aspects of building surveying.”

Edinburgh-based Murray Beith Murray has appointed Laura Brown as its head of tax services. The firm is a well known and regarded private client firm of solicitors. It recently acquired an established tax practice and Brown’s appointment coincides with clear plans to expand its clientele and the tax service offered. Brown joins the firm after 17 years at Turcan Connell and brings extensive experience of both UK and overseas private client tax matters.

Edinburgh software development firm Scott Logic has appointed a Glasgow graduate to a senior role as it continues to grow. Phillip Pinkowski graduated from the University of Glasgow with a degree in computing science in 2009, but moved to Scotland’s capital shortly afterwards. He said: “I previously worked for Weatherford, an oil and gas service company. I came across Scott Logic when I was looking for an opportunity to improve my skills and branch into other technologies and industries.”

After an absence of 13 years, Lisa Pitchers has returned to the residential letting agency DJ Alexander Lettings as the firm’s regional manager for the west of Scotland. Following university, Pitchers began her career with Slater Hogg and Howison before moving to DJ Alexander in 2000. In 2003 she returned to SH&H in an enhanced role, eventually becoming an area manager overseeing Glasgow city centre and Bearsden branches.

R&D tax relief specialist Jumpstart has accelerated its advance into pan-UK markets with the appointment of a hugely-experienced sales and marketing director. The firm has secured the services of Cheshire-based Mike Dean to drive client acquisition activities and field sales capability. Dean will also be responsible for inside sales, partner development and digital marketing, Edinburgh-headquartered Jumpstart added.
