Stella David is to depart the helm of William Grant & Sons after six years at the venerable whisky maker.

The firm behind the world’s third-largest blended Scotch said she had decided to step down as chief executive at the end of February and will be succeeded by current chief commercial officer, Simon Hunt.

David is to focus on building upon her existing portfolio of non-executive directorships which include positions on the board of C&J Clark and HomeServe.
