RESTAURATEURS Stefano and Maria Molfino are aiming to emerge as the aristocracy of Italian dining in Edinburgh following the launch of their new outlet in the Tollcross area of the city.

Rigatoni’s by the King’s is an upmarket take on the family’s established southside trattoria opposite the Queen’s Hall.

The £100,000 restaurant has already capitalised on the run of business driven by the panto season at the nearby King’s Theatre.

The couple have taken charge of the new restaurant, while their children – Adriano, 24, Valentino, 22, and Cinzia, 17 – are now running what has become known as Rigatoni’s by the Queen’s.

“The original Rigatoni’s is hugely popular and customers love the casual dining feel which is based on the informal trattorias and pizzerias of Napoli,” Stefano said.

“With the new Rigatoni’s there is a much sleeker and more sophisticated feel.

“We are looking to create an enhanced – but still totally genuine – Italian dining experience.”
