JLL has appointed James Murray to its Edinburgh office as the property consulant seeks to strengthen its Scottish retail offering.
Murray joins the firm’s team in his home city from its office in central London, where he worked for the past three years as a retail specialist, advising tenants and landlords. He also brings with him overseas retail experience, having worked in Hong Kong for two years with Colliers International.
He will work across the Edinburgh and Glasgow offices, and key responsibilities will include retail acquisition and disposals in Scotland, as well as working alongside the investment and agency teams.
“I’m really looking forward to returning to Scotland to start working with the teams in Edinburgh and Glasgow,” Murray said.
“Maintaining close working links with colleagues across the UK will be important, and I’m ready to explore the opportunities and challenges which lie ahead in Scotland’s diverse retail market.”
Murray will report to Alasdair Humphery, JLL’s lead director for Scotland, who said: “James is a fantastic addition to our team. His experience working internationally and in London’s retail market will be a great asset to our business, adding further depth to our client offering, and providing a platform to grow our presence in Scotland’s retail sector.
“As well as working on mixed-use and pure retail acquisition, James will provide an added dimension to our investment, lease advisory, property asset management and valuation teams. It’s an exciting opportunity both for James and JLL, and we’re looking forward to welcoming him on board.”
JLL now employs more than 120 people across Scotland, advising developers, investors and occupiers in all major property markets.
