Former Pagoda Porter Novelli account director Sarah McDaid has launched her own public relations consultancy, McDaid PR.
McDaid, who spent more than four years at Pagoda in Edinburgh having previously been an account manager at Golley Slater, said: “There’s a real need for a freelance consultant that can offer combined PR and public affairs expertise to clients, especially smaller organisations and charities.
“I’ve got my eye on university spin-outs and the huge range of science and tech businesses around Edinburgh. Four years of working with quantum physicists and chemical engineers means I’ve developed a bit of a niche in that area.”
Her new venture comes as communications and PR outfit Beattie, which recently revealed a surge in turnover, announced plans to create six digital marketing jobs in Edinburgh.
Managing director Laurna Woods said: “Until now we have exclusively had a PR team operating in Edinburgh. However, we have won so much business from new and existing clients that we are setting up a digital team in the city.”
