A new travel firm specialising in attracting golf tourists to Scotland has been launched, with a focus on St Andrews and Carnoustie, above, on the east coast and courses including Askernish on South Uist in the west.

DP&L Golf, a subsidiary of the travel business DP&L, based in Dundee, Perth and London, will create three jobs to work on bespoke Scottish golf packages, including “fly, stay and play”.

The group said it would target customers from the UK and Europe, the United States and Canada “as well as the burgeoning Far East market, with special attention being paid to the emerging Chinese golf market”.

It will operate from the company’s existing bases in St Andrews and Dundee.

Alick Bisset, managing director of DP&L, said: “The emphasis will be on providing an outstanding golfing experience harnessed to great value for money.

“We will uniquely provide a full tour arrangement for our clients which includes the provision of flights for both UK and overseas customers.”
