The body that promotes horseracing in Scotland has appointed a new manager.
Delly Innes, currently account manager at public relations and marketing agency Tweed Media, is due to take up her post at Scottish Racing – which runs courses at Ayr, Hamilton Park, Kelso, Musselburgh and Perth – on 14 March.
The move follows a successful year for Scottish Racing in 2015, when more than 300,000 people visited its five venues, marking its highest annual visitor total for seven years, while prize money paid out reached a record £6.7 million.
Innes, a former regional director at the Countryside Alliance, said: “These are exciting times for horseracing in Scotland.
“The racecourses, through their successful promotional activities, are attracting ever-increasing crowds and offering tremendous family-friendly and affordable days out. I am relishing the opportunity to work with the five racecourses and assist them to make the sport even more attractive to the public.”
Scottish Racing was formed 16 years ago. As well as promoting its quintet of tracks, it lobbies on political issues with the aim of delivering long-term sustainability for the sport north of the Border.
The organisation’s chairman, Sir Ian Good, said: “The five racecourses in Scotland enjoyed an excellent year during 2015, with total spectator attendance at its highest level for seven years and record prize money paid out.
“We are now delighted to have appointed Delly Innes as our new manager and we look forward to her playing her part working with the racecourses in taking the sport on to new successes.”
