Insurance broker Bruce Stevenson is expanding its presence in Glasgow after its gross written premiums soared by 25 per cent to £25 million in the year to the end of August.

Income rose to £5.5m, from £4.5m the previous year, while the company’s headcount grew by a fifth to reach 88 members of staff. Bruce Stevenson is moving its Glasgow offices at New City Road to a flagship site at 144 West George Street, with its operations in the city continuing to be run by commercial director Andrew Adam and renewable energy director Derek Skinner.

The firm, which recently opened a Borders office in Galashiels, also has bases in Aberdeen and London.

Chief executive Edward Bruce said: “Moving into larger offices in Glasgow is a great start to our new financial year and will give us room for further growth.

“Our team has worked hard over the past 12 months to grow our gross written premiums from £20m to £25m. We’re in year three of our five-year plan and we’re growing ahead of our target.”

He added: “This growth has been organic rather than coming through acquisitions and it demonstrates that we’re on course to meet our aim of becoming the broker of choice for our clients.”
