AN EVENT catering business has taken a big step towards its goal of doubling turnover after agreeing a three-year deal to provide food for Edinburgh International Festival (EIF) venues.
Appetite Direct, which is based in the Scottish capital, has grown by a fifth in the last 12 months and the five-figure contract will help secure the future of its ten full-time and 30 part-time staff while creating two further full-time posts.
This year’s EIF began on Friday, with several of the events having a conflict theme to mark the centenary of Britain entering the First World War.
Nigel Kennedy, owner of Appetite Direct, which was launched 11 years ago, said the sponsorship deal “shows a real confidence in our company while reinforcing our commitment to the arts in Edinburgh”.
He added: “It also puts our name in front of some of the key businesses in the city and takes us a step closer to our target of doubling turnover to around £1.4 million within the next five years.”
