Clockwork in depot deals

CLOCKWORK, the Edinburgh-based removals firm, has continued to snap up locations for new businesses in England, despite its managing director admitting a downturn in the housing sector had led to a "severe" fall in house removals work.

It has bought depots in Preston, Louth and Windsor from Fox Moving. Founder Courtenay Morison said while the company had been forced cut staff numbers by 15 per cent in 2008, it remained in profit, and is seeking distress sales of depots from rivals.
