ClerkMaxwell launch promises 100 jobs

UP TO 100 jobs could be created in Aberdeen following the launch of an engineering consultancy to the oil and gas sector.

The new company, ClerkMaxwell, has been founded by Alistair Dornan, formerly of Genesis Oil and Gas Consultants, who will be firm's chief executive.

He will be joined by John Wilson, a former engineering director at Amec, who will be the firm's managing director.

The other directors are Sean Close and Satnam Shoker, both formerly of Wood Group.

ClerkMaxwell is a sister company of Sigma Offshore and is funded through investment from both the management team and private equity, with banking support provided by HSBC.

Dornan said: "We expect to have up to 50 people on board by the end of this year and have plans in place to increase this figure to between 70 and 100 in the second year through sustained and measured growth."

He added ClerkMaxwell will provide engineering and management services, with a particular emphasis on oil and gas production and processing. The firm aims to bridge "the gap between operators and design and installation contractors".

The company is named after James Clerk Maxwell, the Scottish physicist whose electro- magnetism equations laid the foundations for much modern technology.
