Chip star wins £750k backing

PRIVATE investors including Sir Tom Farmer and Brian Souter have taken a stake in Livingston-based Elonics.

The 750,000 funding round was led by Braveheart, the technology commercialisation and investment management company.

Founded in 2003, Elonics is the developer of DigitalTune, a radio tuner chip that can be used for digital TV and radio on both fixed and portable devices. The market for such flexible chips in mobile devices is expected to grow over the next few years.
