Cairn pumps cash into Sangu
CAIRN Energy plans to invest nearly $9.5 million (£5.4m) to try to find more natural gas at Bangladesh's only offshore field at Sangu, which may be commercially exhausted by the end of next year, a senior energy official said yesterday.
A representative from state-owned Petrobangla said the Edinburgh company had submitted a proposal to extend production from the field until 2011. Cairn has invested about $1 billion in Bangladesh, including nearly $600m in Sangu.
