BSkyB's £160m bid for 'worthless' rivals
BRITISH Sky Broadcasting has made a bid for a string of Virgin Media channels that it once called "almost worthless" to its subscribers.
The broadcaster has offered 160m, about 60 per cent more than its nearest challenger, for the seven VMTV digital channels, which include Living, Bravo, Virgin One and Challenge.
If successful, BSkyB would get access to programmes including Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Most Haunted.
None of the other bidders, which include Channel 4, Time Warner and NBC Universal, have bid much more than 100m.
Virgin Media now faces the dilemma of whether to sell to its fiercest rival.
