Brewer sure of S&N deal
BREWING giant Carlsberg has moved to reassure investors that it is "not in the least worried" about its ability to finance its takeover of Scottish & Newcastle.
The Danish firm teamed up with Dutch partner Heineken to offer 7.8 billion for the Edinburgh brewer.
The credit crunch had led to fears that the consortium would have difficulty coming up with the funds.
It is to issue 3.5 billion of equity to finance the deal in the autumn and has arranged to borrow from BNP Paribas, Danske Bank, Lehman Brothers and Nordea.
