Box office hits please Cineworld
CINEMA operator Cineworld said a strong schedule of releases gave it confidence that it would continue to grow revenues this year.
The firm, which operates the cinema at Fountainpark, said box office revenues increased by 19 per cent in the 17 weeks to April 23, with total income increasing by 13 per cent.
And it said blockbuster releases like X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Star Trek Terminator: Salvation and Transformers 2 gave it confidence that revenues would continue to rise for the rest of the year.
Steve Wiener, the firm's chief executive, said: "The figures overall demonstrate the resilience of our business in the current economic and financial climate. With an attractive line-up of film releases in the second half, we remain confident in the outlook for the year as a whole."
