Pru under attack
LIFE insurer Prudential has came under fire for leaving thousands of staff unsure about their jobs.
The insurance giant faced a stinging attack at its annual general meeting in London after announcing earlier this year it is to put 3,000 jobs under review, with no decision on final staff cuts due for at least six months.
The comments from shareholders and former employees come as the group faces increasing pressure to offload its ailing UK business, with rumours circulating it may face hostile takeover approaches. Last month Pru posted a 23 per cent drop in UK Q1 sales, while it saw sales soar by 21 per cent in the US and 34 per cent in Asia.
