NBNK may look again at Clydesdale
NBNK, the nascent banking group that failed in its bid for the 600‑plus Lloyds branches on the market, is believed to be again running the rule over Clydesdale and Yorkshire banks.
It comes as National Australia Bank last week unveiled a strategic review of its UK assets that is seen as possibly leading to their sale. NAB said its decision to review Clydesdale and Yorkshire was due to what looked like chronic weakness in the UK economy.
An NBNK spokesman declined to comment on targets, but said: “We continue to assess a number of opportunities.”
