Geard chooses Scotland over South Africa return

Stuart Geards appointment was described as a massive coup

INVESTMENT firm Nucleus Financial has recruited Stuart Geard to replace the managing director who left last month.

Geard, who is currently a non-executive director at “wrap” platform Nucleus, was previously the UK finance director of Sanlam, the South African wealth management firm which is Nucleus’ most significant shareholder with a 49 per cent stake.

Geard, a native South African, had planned to return home, but he will move instead to Edinburgh. He will take up the role in October.

Previous managing director John McNeil left last month, having joined Nucleus in January.

Founder and chief executive David Ferguson said: “Stuart is one of the smartest and most talented guys I have ever had the pleasure of working with. It is a massive coup for Nucleus that he and his family have reversed their decision to return to South Africa to join the Nucleus team.”
