Flockhart to end 37-year bank stint
SANDY Flockhart, the Scottish senior career banker with HSBC, is to retire from the board at the end of July, it was confirmed yesterday.
He will step down as a non-executive director of HSBC Holdings, and from his positions as chairman of HSBC Bank and as a director of HSBC Bank Middle East.
Flockhart had already stepped down as an executive in April following a long career with what is now Britain’s biggest bank.
Douglas Flint, the Scots-born group chairman of HSBC, said yesterday: “We are extremely grateful to Sandy for his dedicated and loyal service to HSBC over 37 years including the last four years on the HSBC Holdings board and wish him well for the future, particularly in his continuing fight against cancer.”
