Axe falls on Clydesdale Bank jobs
CLYDESDALE Bank is cutting jobs in Scotland as a result of a review of its retail operations.
There will be nine job losses north of the Border as part of a reduction of more than 100 banking and mortage adviser posts at the Clydesdale and its sister bank, the Yorkshire.
Last night the two banks, part of National Australia Bank, said job losses were necessary because of "changes in the way customers are choosing to do business with us".
They added that there would be no compulsory redundancies and the job losses would be offset by the creation of 14 banking adviser and mortgage adviser roles in the group's direct banking division.
A further 20 adviser roles would be created in the companies' financial solutions unit.
Steve Reid, retail director for Clydesdale and Yorkshire banks, commented:
"These changes are designed to provide an enhanced service for customers while adapting the business to changing market conditions.
"We will work closely with our people to support them and to find suitable alternative roles wherever possible."
