Bank bosses face calls for MSP grilling
THE former heads of Royal Bank of Scotland and Halifax Bank of Scotland are facing calls to appear before the Scottish Parliament to explain their part in the banks' collapse.
Sir Fred Goodwin, the ex-RBS chief executive, Andy Hornby, former chief executive of HBOS, and Sir George Mathewson, former chairman and chief executive of RBS, are on a list drawn up by MSPs of people they wish to question over the humbling of Scotland's foremost financial institutions.
Labour, the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats have called for an inquiry into the banking crisis.
RBS shares fell 11 per cent yesterday, while the newly formed Lloyds Banking Group saw its value cut in half at one point before closing 31 per cent down at 44p.
