Baker Tilly adds to workforce

BAKER Tilly, the biggest accountancy and business advisory firm outside the "Big Four" in central Scotland, has made three senior appointments at its Edinburgh Quay office.

The move is designed to build on the momentum created by last year's merger with Bruntsfield-based Scott & Paterson and the acquisition of Lanarkshire-based James Lockhart & Co.

VAT veteran Jim Burberry joins from PricewaterhouseCoopers as a partner in the firm's tax team, while Andy Baker has been promoted to partner in the corporate finance department.

Elsewhere, the firm has Sheila Low, who boasts a long career in venture capital, investment management and corporate finance, as a business development director.

Managing partner Bill Davidson said: "2007 was a transformational year for Baker Tilly."
