Architect firm axes workers

A LEADING architecture firm in the Capital has made more than a quarter of its staff redundant.

Award-winning Malcolm Fraser Architects, which is behind a number of landmark buildings in the Capital including Dancebase, the national dance centre, has cut eight jobs at its Edinburgh practice.

The redundancies leave the firm with 20 employees.

Neil Baxter of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland said: "The downturn in the housing market has meant that a lot of projects have been suspended."
